Next-Level Inspection: Ammo Manufacturer Installs Gi-360T
for 100% Quality Control

August 2, 2024 – A prominent bullet manufacturer in Southeast, USA has taken a significant step in enhancing its quality assurance process by integrating the advanced Gi-360T inspection system from General Inspection, LLC. This state-of-the-art inspection system is designed to perform highly accurate dimensional measurements, currently being used to measure projectiles, with future plans to extend its capabilities to cases and cartridges.

The Gi-360T inspection system leverages cutting-edge laser gauging technology to identify specific defects, ensuring the highest standards of precision and quality. The system measures outer diameter dimensions including ogive, circularity, and concentricity using a four-profile and 8 detector laser head array that generates cross-sections at 45-degree intervals. Additionally, it includes an 8-laser velocity gauge for extremely accurate length measurements for overall length, cannelure positions, and theoretical intersections.

The system is equipped with a centrifugal feeder system, which includes a stand with electrical controls, built-in vision blow-off orientation, and part metering. Its elevator hopper is designed with a compact footprint and provides gentle part handling.

The integration of the Gi-360T underscores the company’s commitment to superior quality control, allowing for thorough validation of each part before assembly. This meticulous inspection process helps in preventing defects, reducing rework, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

To ensure effective utilization of the system, the manufacturer will benefit from a comprehensive training program, offering three consecutive days of training at General Inspection’s facility for up to three individuals. While travel expenses are the customer’s responsibility, training is included in the package. The purchase also includes software, calibration, and internet support package ensuring seamless operation and ongoing support.

Additionally, the manufacturer has the option to incorporate a Weighing Station with the system. This fully integrated conveyor system offers weight verification, featuring a speed reduction chute and an air “blow off” for dedicated accept/reject functions, further enhancing the quality assurance process.
